Control Point is a custom game mode developed by Valve game designer Matt T. Wood for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.[1][2] It was created to demonstrate the capabilities of the VScript tool and is included in the CS:GO Software Development Kit as an example mode for mapmakers and modders.
Overview
Control Point serves primarily as a scripting demonstration, showcasing how custom game modes can be built using VScript in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The mode introduces an objective-based format in which teams capture and hold designated control zones on the map.
Maps
All maps made for this mode use the cp_ prefix. Each one demonstrates a slightly different implementation of the Control Point concept:

Trivia
- The Control Point game mode is likely inspired by the mechanics of Day of Defeat: Source and Team Fortress 2, and may even reuse some of its logic or structure.
